Joynier Lockett is a native of Los Angeles, CA and grew up playing multiple sports including soccer, track & field, and football. A talented triple jumper in high school, he qualified for California State Championships before moving on to college to concentrate on football. During his collegiate career as a defensive back he would earn multiple All-Conference awards and All-American honors during his senior season at Lambuth University.
Having spent several years as an advertising executive before following his passion for health and athletic performance, he saw the need that was missing amongst his media peers to put health and wellness toward the front of their responsibilities. This is where he began training and developing programs and coaching his associates back in 2001.
Joynier brings more than 15-years of experience coaching youth athletes, adult brand new to fitness and elite level collegiate, professional, and recreational athletes. As a former youth athlete himself, he understands the importance of getting quality coaching when it comes to movement and body awareness which led him to working with youth athletes serious about their sport. With recurring injuries in youth sports currently at an all-time high, he has made it a mission to educate and develop stronger, mobile, and more powerful athletes through Long-Term Athletic Development.
His approach to movement is functionality and proper mechanics before intensity, and he specializes in teaching proper compound movement techniques with barbells and kettlebells, including Olympic lifting. Joynier has lead many seminars teaching groups how to be faster and more dynamic athletes in their sport, and currently oversees the Youth Athletic Performance & Strength Development at Elevate Physical Therapy & Fitness in Santa Monica, CA. Joynier holds an Associates of Science Degree in Health Education from Los Angeles Valley College and Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Lambuth University. Additionally, Joynier holds a 2nd level brown belt in Kung Fu, and trains boxing and Muay Thai. His hobbies also include obstacle course races competing regularly in Tough Mudder & Spartan Series races throughout the western region.
